What factors have caused solar pricing to reduce in Adelaide?

Solar panel prices from the best Tier 1 solar manufacturers have fallen significantly and this has flowed through into the price of residential solar energy systems.

The second big change has been the increase in average system sizes on homes. More and more people have realized that the return from solar panels over their full 25-year warranty life is so amazing that they now want as many solar panels as they can fit on their roof.

The third factor is the failure of the federal government to reign in power prices in the whole National Energy Guarantee fiasco. This has sent the message to homeowners that you can’t rely on anyone else to deal with your electric bill, it is up to you to get a solar power system installed. This creates volume, and volume has allowed the solar industry to price far more competitively.

The final factor that has contributed to falling solar system cost is the growing interest in solar battery storage that has come after the release of the Tesla home battery. This has given consumers confidence that even if the big electricity retailers cut the feed-in tariff again, they can switch to storing their power and even consider disconnecting from the grid altogether.

Why don’t more solar power companies put their prices online?

Well, for one thing, they want to make it hard for consumers to accurately compare one quote against another.

Secondly, many of the companies in the solar power industry today used to sell roller shutters, insulation or roof restorations. In those industries it is common to use high pressure “must buy today” in home sales tactics.

Such sales tactics rely on the fact that consumers are uninformed about market pricing because they typically seek to sell low-cost brands as premium products at super premium prices. I am so sick of having vulnerable people — usually the elderly — ring up and tell me how they have been conned by hard-nosed sales tactics.

These sales tactics don’t work if people have access to good information. This is why we put our system pricing online. We think it helps to keep the whole industry honest and hopefully will convey to you that we are an honest, straightforward company to deal with. The only reason we now make people register to see our prices is to stop them being used by our competitors as easily. We’ll leave them to work out their own pricing 😉.

Please be assured that if you accurately complete the form above — we verify phone numbers and email addresses — we will instantly email you a link to our installed solar system prices.

We will not use your data for any purpose other than to contact you about a solar system and your data will not be sold to third parties.
